— ABOUT THE FIRM

A Professional Corporation Built on Precision and Integrity

Johnathan Fennema Professional Corporation is a Chartered Professional Accountant practice based in Jordan, Ontario. The corporation was established to give owner-managed businesses and individuals access to the same calibre of accounting, tax and advisory work found at larger firms — without the layers of bureaucracy or the impersonal service that so often comes with them.

The practice is led by a Chartered Professional Accountant with more than eight years in public accounting. That experience was earned at mid-sized firms serving small business owners across a broad range of industries, which is where the firm’s practical, owner-focused approach was formed.

Today the firm works with incorporated professionals, trades, retailers, hospitality operators, landlords and family businesses throughout the Niagara Region and across Ontario. Every engagement is handled under CPA Ontario standards and delivered directly by the principal of the firm.

Our Mission

To give businesses owners accounting they can rely on – accurate, timely, and explained in plain language, so decisions are made with confidence rather than guesswork

Our Values

The corporation operates on integrity, respect and honesty. Clients are treated as partners, deadlines are treated as commitments, and advice is given straight – even when it is not what you hoped to hear.

Our Background

A Bachelors of Accounting (2021) and Mastery of Accountancy (2022) from Brock University, followed by the CPA Common Final Examination and formal designation in 2022. Public practice experience was built at mid-sized Ontario firms before this corporation was established.

Experience across the sectors that make up Ontario’s owner-managed economy.

— CLIENT TESTIMONIALS

What our clients say.

Feedback from the owner-managed businesses and individuals the firm works with
across the Niagara Region and Ontario.

We came to the firm with three years of unreconciled books and a looming CRA review. Everything was cleaned up, explained in plain language, and handled before it became a problem. Genuinely the most organized our finances have ever been.

Marcus Delaney

Owner, Delaney Contracting Ltd.

As a first-time incorporator I had a hundred questions. Every one of them got a straight answer with the reasoning behind it. The fee was quoted up front and there were no surprises at the end of the year.

Priya Raghavan

Founder, Northline Studio

The tax planning work paid for itself many times over. Restructuring how we paid ourselves saved us a meaningful amount, and it was all done well within the rules. That is the difference a CPA makes.

Grant Whitfield

Managing Partner, Whitfield & Sons

Bookkeeping used to eat my weekends. Now it is handled, the HST is never late, and I get a clear picture of the business every quarter. I can actually focus on running the restaurant.

Elena Moretti

Owner, Moretti Kitchen

What stood out was the integrity. There were a couple of deductions I asked about and was told honestly they would not hold up. That kind of straight dealing is exactly what you want in an accountant.

David Klassen

President, Klassen Transport Inc.

Response times are excellent. Emails are answered the same day, and our year-end is finished weeks ahead of the deadline instead of scraping in at the last minute.

Sandra Beaulieu

Operations Director, Beaulieu Property

What does it actually mean to work with a CPA firm?

A Chartered Professional Accountant is regulated, holds a professional designation and is bound by a code of conduct and continuing education requirements. Working with a CPA means your filings are prepared to a professional standard, your advice carries accountability, and you have a practitioner who can represent you before the Canada Revenue Agency.

Do you only work with businesses in the Niagara Region?

The office is based in Jordan, Ontario, and most clients are within the Niagara Region and the broader Golden Horseshoe. That said, bookkeeping, tax preparation and advisory work are delivered remotely as well, so the firm works with clients across Ontario without difficulty.

I have years of backlogged bookkeeping. Is that a problem?

Not at all, and it is more common than you would think. Catch-up bookkeeping is a routine engagement. Records are reconstructed, reconciled and brought current, and we will map out a schedule so you know exactly where the clean-up stands at each stage.

How is your fee structured?

Fees are quoted before work begins, based on the scope and complexity of the engagement rather than billed by the hour without warning. Recurring bookkeeping is offered at a fixed monthly rate, and annual tax work is quoted as a flat fee once the file has been reviewed.

Should I incorporate my business?

It depends on your income level, how you plan to pay yourself, and what you intend to do with retained earnings. This is one of the most common questions we handle. A short consultation is usually enough to give you a clear recommendation with the reasoning behind it.

What accounting software do you work with?

The firm works with the major cloud accounting platforms used by Canadian small businesses, and can also work from your existing desktop records. If you are not on a system yet, we will recommend and set up the right one for your operation.

How do I get started?

Book a consultation or send a message through the contact form. You will get a reply within one business day. The first conversation is a no-obligation review of your situation, where we outline what needs to be done and what it will cost.
